Gaumukh glacier is the will-known glacier in Garhwal Himalayas from where Bhagirathi emerges. The glacier has its origin on the western slopes of Satopanth groups of peaks. It is also connected with the flakier along the northern slopes of Kedarnath peak. Therefore it is said that three great places of pilgrimages Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath are all within a few kilometers of horizontal distance from each other's.
